Pinterest Wedding Inspiration
Tom and Emily Comberiate were married at St. Patrick Church of Merna, June 20, 2015, blessed with a beautiful day. Emily started planning for their wedding day months before, getting most of her inspiration for her wedding colors and decor from Pinterest. She stated, “I found myself continually pinning images that had soft, feminine and classic themes. I was also drawn toward things that had a vintage and timeless feel to them.

How We Met
We first met on a Catholic retreat through the Newman Center at the University of Illinois. Although we knew of each other, it took two years before we reconnected at a back-to-school BBQ hosted by Tom and his roommates. That’s really when our love story began!!
Our Proposal
We had a mostly long distance relationship. After I had completed a very tough semester of grad school, Tom said he wanted me to visit him in Maryland and celebrate my completing graduate school classes. My feminine intuition had me on high alert as I waited for Tom to get home from work and reveal what kind of a celebration he had planned! We first stopped by a local vineyard and winery, and as we got back in the car, Tom tried to play it cool by saying that we had some time to kill before our next stop and he wanted to take me to the Franciscan Friary he loves. As we walked around the gardens, we stopped before a beautiful statue of St. Maximilian Kolbe, and Tom explained that he was a Catholic priest who volunteered his own life in place of a father and husband in Auschwitz. Tom explained that he had been coming to this spot to pray for us, and that in marriage, each spouse is called to lay down one’s life for the other. It was a truly beautiful and memorable moment!!
Favorite Wedding Memory
This might sound cliche, but one of my favorite moments was walking down the aisle towards my future husband; we kept eye contact the entire time and even though there were hundreds of people watching, it only felt like the two of us were there. I also enjoyed our car ride out to the reception as it was one of the few moments that we were alone and could catch our breath and let the ceremony soak in. I would suggest finding a time like this in the middle of the day to any bride!!

Advice For Future Brides
Although the planning is exciting and fun, don’t let it overwhelm you. At the end of the day, no matter what happens, you’ll still be married to the one God intended for you and nothing else will matter! Things that may seem like a huge deal the day before the wedding (like not having enough favors for all the guests) will not seem as big of a deal on your actual wedding day…and most likely none of your guests will even notice whatever it is that goes wrong!! Have fun with the planning process and let your own personal style shine through. Take time in choosing vendors who will work with you and provide the perfect amount of expertise while still allowing you to incorporate your own style.

Wedding flowers provided by – Fancy Florals By Nancy – a central Illinois wedding florist.
Nancy did an amazing job helping my visions for the wedding come to life! Not only is she very talented and offers a lot of ideas, she is also very personable and is willing to work within your budget. Of all of my wedding vendors, she was always one of the fastest to respond to questions or new ideas that I had as the planning process took place. All of the flowers turned out better than I could have imagined! Everything was fresh and stayed fresh all day…our bouquets even lasted for a few days after the wedding and we were able to enjoy them longer than the wedding day itself! I would highly recommend Fancy Florals by Nancy to anyone looking to work with a sweet and talented florist. – Emily Plattner Comberiate
