Autumn Harvest Themed Wedding
Garrett and Maggie Zano were married in an outdoor ceremony at Ewing Manor on October 24, 2015. The windy day, holding a threat of rain, provided some challenges, but thanks to these great vendors, this couple was in good hands! They were thrilled with Greg Linder Photography, Palace Events, Baxter’s, Fancy Florals By Nancy and of course the enchanting Ewing Manor.

Garrett and Maggie love the outdoors and woods in particular. Maggie was born in October and adores the color of the trees turning, crisp cool air and decorations including pumpkins. They are also very big fans of the Renaissance Fairies and wanted to incorporate the medieval/renaissance feel which made Ewing Manor and the harvest theme perfect. She explained that it also birthed the idea for her flower crown which she felt was the perfect touch for their special day.

When we asked Maggie what made her fall in love with Garrett, she stated that she knows everyone says this but for her it’s absolutely true – she fell in love with him the night they met!! “I fell in love with his voice first as we shared a stimulating conversation by skipping over superficial topics like food and favorites, and diving right into deep discussions of space and time, life on other planets, and other oddities of the universe. He both challenges and comforts me!”

Garrett had planned a special surprise for Maggie complete with a fairy-tale picnic with champagne at Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. He had the day off of work, but not Maggie so when he picked her up after work she was exhausted and declined his offer of a drive and picnic. After arriving home, she noticed the champagne in the fridge, and the cogs in her head started to turn….She quickly threw on her favorite dress and pushed Garrett out the door. By getting a late start, the sunlight had closed for Skyline Drive, so they went to Great Falls National Park and took a hike that seemed to take forever to Maggie. Coming to a clearing, Garrett finally got down on one knee and said the four magical words. Maggie was crying too hard to answer, but Garrett understood her sobs were a yes!! Engaged!!!
Maggie shared that all of her vendors did such a great job! “I used Palace Events for my tent and other rental equipment and they were wonderful. They work with you every step of the way and do set up and take down. The tent was magical and the tables just right. Fancy Florals By Nancy created breathtaking wedding bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres and a perfect floral crown. Nancy also did last minute floral touches to our DIY table decor when we found some extra money in the budget!! Baxter’s event planner Natalie was amazing to work with – I had many last minute changes which she catered to and the food was incredible!
Maggie loved her wedding photos by Greg Linder – the above pose is her favorite!! Her advice for newly engaged couples? Enjoy it together; go on tastings, visit vendors together – you will fall even more in love. Don’t try to micromanage and let little things upset you because in the end they really do not matter! Her most important advice? Eat before you go – you are filled with nerves and happiness so hunger is a second thought. I think I only sat at my plate for two minutes!
