This central Illinois fall wedding styled shoot and tasting took place at Pear Tree Estate in Champaign, IL last fall. The styled shoot and tasting are an opportunity for us to collaborate with Pear Tree and dream up something lovely and unique.
Not many of our couples choose a fall color palette, so we jumped at the chance to design with fall color! Among the flowers we chose was the beautiful Toffee rose. We added rust rather than orange, and combined muted shades of mauve with brown undertones and cream to brighten the deeper colors.
Central Illinois Fall Wedding
As a preferred vendor at Pear Tree, we do an annual styled shoot and tasting. The tasting is held in the evening for couples who have already booked the venue. They are able to sample all of the menu items that Pear Tree’s caterer, LA Gourmet, offers. They choose their favorite dishes to be served at their own wedding.
The styled shoot happens in the early afternoon with real models and a whole lineup of vendors. A professional photographer captures it all and we are rewarded for our hard work with beautiful photos. All of the couples attending the tasting get to experience our floral design first hand and see what we can offer them.
To frame the hand-lettered seating chart, we filled the hanging boxes in the entry way. The greens and blooms added color and livened up the wood panels to greet guests as they arrived. Always think about a focal point. Don’t underestimate the value of a good “first impression!”
Entry Decor
These hanging flower boxes had just been custom made. We were excited to be the first florist to get to design in them for this Central Illinois Fall Wedding.
Ceremony Backdrop
For the ceremony backdrop decor we created a beautiful floral wedding arch. We covered the arch in wild smilax greens. We garnished with antique hydrangeas, cascading amaranthus and some of our favorite fall roses. The standard roses we used were Toffee, Golden Mustard and Leonidas. The garden roses we used were Miyabi Brown & Eugenie.
For the reception table decor, we created a mix of high and low centerpieces. Our tall centerpieces were designed on two heights of Harlow stands and are created to be above eye level of seated guests.
Our low centerpieces were designed in footed compote vases and are created to be below eye level of seated guests. We also added vintage bottles with a showy bloom, and foliage or grasses, for texture. These bottles were placed along the rectangle farm tables.
Each place setting had a fruit garnish and the sangria in goblets added a touch of depth with their deep color. The linens and candles were carefully chosen to complement the flowers.
Reception Table Centerpieces
Hanging over the center table in the room, we designed a glorious floral chandelier. It created the perfect focal point as the guests entered the reception area. Any venue that has high ceilings benefits by adding another element and dimension to fill in the space between table and ceiling.
Finishing off the reception table decor were votives with tea lights (a must for romance) and framed calligraphy table numbers. Everything was designed to create a warm and welcoming space for all of the couples attending the tasting that evening.
