9 Top Wedding Trends For 2017

Dec 13, 2016 | Behind The Scenes

2017 is shaping up to be a fun year for us with 20 weddings already booked and as we looked over the Bridal Guide’s Hottest New Wedding Trends blog, our booked 2017 central Illinois weddings are right in style with the following trends!

1.  Vintage/Glamour – whimsical mix of old and new.

Industrial warehouse venues; strands of twinkling lights and glowing candles are a hot look for 2017.  The photo below was from one of our wedding at the Waterhouse in Peoria last September.  Photo courtesy of Josh Johnson Photography.

2.  Hottest wedding color – Blush!

Blush pink is “it” in weddings for 2017.  The bouquet below is a blend of the beautiful blush pink Quicksand rose and the specatular White O’hara garden rose from one of our weddings this past October.  Blush has been our most popular color in 2016 and from our weddings booked for 2017 it looks like it will be our most popular color again.

3.  Metalics – copper, rose gold and pewter remain big.

Metalics add a touch of elegance but be sure to use shine strategically such as a head table or a display table.

4.  Neutrals  – you can’t go wrong with a neutral color palette.

While blush was a popular choice, the neutral palette was also big in 2016 with lots of greens such as this mixed green garland for the head table decor from one of our May weddings.  Photo courtesy of Jennifer Lee Photographee.

5.  Swoon-worthy blooms!

Peonies, garden roses, ranunculus and dahlias are top requests from coast to coast.  These wonderful full petaled blooms epitomize romance.  They are being used in bridal bouquets, centerpieces, placed along garlands and cakes.  Another hot trend is loose rose petals with floating candles.  The small cake below with peonies and rose is from one of our June weddings.

6.  Tall elegant centerpieces.

Trumpet vases are making a comeback and allow for large lush floral centerpieces.  The photo below was from one of our June weddings held at Allerton Mansion in Monticello and contains a mix of peonies which are in season in May & June and a mix of garden and standard roses with seasonal and textural elements.  Be sure to use a few of these grand centerpieces to make an elegant statement.

7.  Mix It Up!

Many brides are choosing to forgo the perfectly organized look and are creating a more eclectic feel with a variety of centerpieces and  mix of containers bringing a more personalized look to their wedding decor.  Photo (below and two above) courtesy of Wright Photographs.

8.  Hanging Floral Centerpieces.

We’ve had our first request for a hanging floral centerpiece for one of our wedding booked in 2017 and we are looking forward to creating one of these.  What a way to add an instant WOW!!!

9.  Surprise Settings.

Unique venue choices are offering couples a way to surprise their guests with wonderful views  giving the couples a way to make their special day something unique and different.  This is from one of our wedding last May held at the beautiful Point D’Vine Vineyard in Quincy.  Photo courtesy of Jennifer Lee Photographee.
